The gasket at the valve body is a static seal, which is prone to the standard requirement of leakage, while the packing is a dynamic seal, which is difficult to meet the standard requirement. So the assessment of valve leakage is mainly based on detecting the leakage at the valve packing to evaluate the level of valve leakage. The API 622 standard emphasizes the leakage type test of fillers, which can be completed on the test fixture or on the valve. Evaluate the filler separately. Some valve manufacturers use API 622 packing provided by packing manufacturers. Due to differences in valve design or manufacturing processes among manufacturers, the leakage testing at the valve packing may yield different results.
